Boomba Down The Tyne

Artistic Director: Pady O'Connor

Musical Director: Brendan Murphy

Made in collaboration with Lawnmowers Independent Theatre Company, Opaxoro and Orquestra Sertau, Brazil.

Boomba Down the Tyne was a project that brought together thirty-five artists with learning disabilities from across the North East of England and Brazil to devise and perform an exciting large scale performance fusing the element of Theatre, Dance, Mask and Puppetry.

The performance told the beautiful story of a mans relationship with the sea, and how a seahorse visits him in a dream. It celebrated and showcased North East culture in a uniquely spirited theatre, music and Samba Ceilidh experience. Boomba toured to theatres and arts venues all over the North East then travelled to the South Bank Arts centre London.

Boomba Down the Tyne was artistically created and directed by Pady O' Connor, while the puppetry elements were developed in collaboration with Andrew Kim of Thingumajig Theatre.
